After your home has been constructed, interior design comes into play. The kitchen is one of the significant places in your house that requires interior designing. However, it is also among the most expensive zones to renovate and re-design. So when experts charge you high enough just for a piece of advice, why not attempt to remodel your kitchen by yourself?

Whether you employ an interior designer or you intend to do the job yourself, careful planning is always important in order to achieve the looks and the effect that you want for your kitchen. For do it yourselfers, you have to be knowledgeable enough of the tips and ideas as well as the mistakes that most homeowners have made in remodeling their kitchens.

Design Tips

1. If you have a small kitchen, make use of light colors like beige or off white. If you want to enliven or brighten up the place, you can accentuate it using bright colors. Remember that dark colors will make the kitchen appear smaller than its real size.

2. Avoid using dark colored tiles in the kitchen counters. Though royal blue or black look great, soap residue is very visible in these shades. And what's worse is that it becomes very difficult to clean when it hardened. So if you don't have a housekeeper or a helper that will clean and maintain the countertops everyday, better choose tiles with light colors.

3. The refrigerator, sink and cooking stove should be arranged well, forming a work triangle. The distance of these three stations should not be more than 26 feet. They need to be close enough for ease in food preparation.

4. You can adorn your kitchen with indoor plants, especially the small ones. Plants always bring a fresh feeling to the kitchen's interior design.

5. On holidays, transform the appearance of the kitchen by using themed slipcovers, window curtains and table cloth to spice up the room and make it fit for the occasion.

6. Be very sure that the kitchen has an adequate lighting. Insufficient lighting will make your kitchen look and feel gloomy and cramped. Besides the main lighting fixture in the middle of the kitchen, you can also put task lights under the hanging cabinets.

7. Get placemats, dishes, trivets, bowls and other cutlery that match the theme of your kitchen design.

By simply following this handful of tips, you can achieve the looks and effects that you're wishing for your kitchen to have. And you can do your renovation job quickly and more affordably. So if you think that functionality alone is not enough, better create a kitchen that's stylish, safe and comfortable. And you can realize this by combining simplicity with modern comfort and elegance of the yesteryears.

Glass has traditionally been a hard sell as a surface to eat on. Heavy plates and serving dishes, forks, knives, all these materials seem to make one believe that dining on a wooden table a safer choice. Yet glass that has been tempered can stand up to oven-like temperatures and a lot of abuse. These make the perfect choice for a place to dine and share your days’ events with family and possibly friends.

Many families have decided to go for a modern look with their interior décor. The glass dining table goes right along with this style. If choosing an oblong dining table, its straight lines and flat edges easily blend into the clean lines that those with a modern flair like to see. It can seat many people as it can be made quite large. It can also sit a cozy two for those that don’t need that type of seating. This table will make a wonderful addition to your décor already in place.

If your tastes do not fall into the category of modern and straight clean lines do not top your list of importance when it comes to décor, you may prefer a round table. These tables are just as aesthetically charming as their oblong counterparts, yet they can be sized to adjust to any eating location. If you have a small nook, your table can be made to fit that particular smaller size. If your space is bigger a larger table may be available. Whatever your need, a glass table will be practical as well as aesthetically superior to its wooden counterpart.

No matter what your need in the space of a dining table, you will not be sorry for choosing one made of tempered glass. Its unrivaled durability will not leave you with a table full of scratches and bruises. It is a very strong material that can withstand a lot of scratches from stray silverware or shattering due to something heavy being dropped. This is a table that will add aesthetic value to your surroundings. It’s a beautiful piece of work that is intended to be used time and again for many years to come.

If you have small children and that makes you veer away from a tempered glass dining table, think again about how many positive features there can be. A tempered glass table will not get scratches or bruises even if a fork is dragged across it. It can stand up to all the abuse it may receive from children or angry adults. A wooden table will not share the same fate. If a fork it slammed into a wooden surface, there’s a good chance that fork will enter the surface which means permanent damage to your table. In this case, the tempered glass table is more practical than a wooden one.

Guest Room Interior Design

A guest bedroom is a useful extension of your home that makes it easier for friends and family to come from long distances to visit you. However if you don't like house guests, you should probably consider using the space for something else, as its very existence will invite people to come and stay with you for long periods of time.

For the most part, the guest bedroom doesn't have to serve just one purpose. You can buy a fold up bed, or a futon, that can double as a couch, allowing you to double the space as an office, computer center, or TV and media room. Just be ready to give the space up when visitors come a calling.

There are a variety of features that can enhance the comfort of your potential guests, and make this room more inviting. Conveniences like a television hooked into cable, a place to connect to the internet, and even a mini fridge stocked with snacks, are all ways to make a person feel at home in your home.

Accessories such as a mirror, an alarm clock, fresh sheets, and pillow cases are all necessities when putting your guest room together. You can also have a variety of toiletries, and even towels and washcloths available to ensure that their every need is taken care of.

A well stocked closet will also have a backup set of sheets, duvets, and pillow cases, folded and waiting for use. You can also put extra blankets and pillows in here. However be certain that there is plenty of space left over for hanging and organizing their wardrobe when they get there.

Putting a small table or night stand next to the bed or futon is simple way to make the room functional. This will allow your guests to put their personal effects by the side of their bed while they sleep at night. Adding a lamp to this will give them an easy reading light that they can leave on until just before they go to sleep.
