If you are using a pole as the mount, you will need to account for the area between the pole This will allow the curtains to appear lush and full, and ensures there is ample material to cover the windows. When choosing curtain size, make sure that each side is about twice the width of half of the window. If you are not lucky enough to a wood stud behind the install points, you will need to drill a pilot hole and insert drywall anchors before driving the screws.

This pole will hold the weight of the curtains, so closely follow the manufacturer's instructions for safety. The pole should be installed using a leveler to make sure it is straight. Install the pole 4 inches above the window recess. Allow for 6 inches of clearance on each side of the window. Also, the extra overlap prevents people from seeing inside.

This is done so that when opened, the curtains will have somewhere to go. Curtains that extend beyond the width of the window opening will require a track that is also wider than the window. Proper preparation will lead to curtains that have a long life and are properly aligned. These tools are a measuring tape, pencil, drill and screwdriver. You will need a couple simple tools to complete installation.

However, proper installation is very important in making them function properly. Designed to keep the sun in and peeping eyes out, curtains come in an enormous variety of colors, designs and textures. Curtains are a common sight in any household.
